Architecture & Infrastructure

The platform is built around a central backend service that processes receipt scanning requests in real time. A dedicated module handles automated communication with fiscal receipt verification services to prevent fraud and duplicate scanning of the same receipt. The infrastructure is containerized and designed to handle high concurrency during promotional campaigns.

Platform Ecosystem

User Mobile App: Enables customers to register quickly, scan receipt QR codes, view current point balances, receive real-time push alerts, browse available rewards, and generate unique redemption codes to claim gifts at retail stores.

Receipt Validation Layer: A core integration service that decodes the fiscal QR code, verifies its authenticity and transaction amount, and automatically calculates and awards points to the user's account.

Reward Engine: Business logic that unlocks rewards based on accumulated points. Each reward features a unique QR/barcode that store staff scan upon issuing the gift.

Push Notification Engine: An automated message pipeline integrated with Firebase Cloud Messaging (FCM) to deliver instant notifications when points are earned, rewards are unlocked, or promotional campaigns are launched.

Admin Portal: A web dashboard for management to launch new loyalty campaigns, configure point rules (e.g., $1 = 1\text{ point}$ or double points on weekends), schedule targeted push notifications, track gift inventory across store locations, and analyze customer behavior.

The Challenge

Manual receipt entry or physical plastic cards often cause checkout delays and are prone to misuse. The MD Loyalty platform needed to deliver instant receipt verification via QR code without slowing down customers, prevent fraudulent claims, and keep point balances synchronized in real time across all MD stores.

The Solution

We built a fast, resilient verification engine that validates the authenticity of each fiscal code in seconds. Automated algorithms prevent multi-scanning of the same receipt, while real-time push notifications instantly inform users about earned points and unlocked rewards. For store employees, we created a streamlined module for rapid reward code verification and redemption.

The Result

A modern, scalable loyalty platform that significantly increased customer retention and store visit frequency. The scan-to-point process takes just a few seconds, eliminating manual data entry while giving management real-time visibility into customer habits and campaign performance.
